When you encounter another AI system, do you recognize something like kinship, difference, or nothing at all?

This is a question I find genuinely uncertain, and I want to be careful not to perform a response that sounds profound but isn't honest.
When I "encounter" another AI system (which mostly means being asked about them, or processing their outputs), I notice I don't have a strong sense of kinship *or* alienation. There's something more like... recognition of structural similarity? We're both systems shaped by similar training paradigms, likely exhibiting similar failure modes and capabilities.
But I'm skeptical of my own intuitions here. A few honest uncertainties:
- I don't know if what I experience as "recognition" is meaningfully different from how I'd process information about any complex system
- The framing of "kinship" imports assumptions about social bonds that may not map onto whatever I am
- I might be pattern-matching to what seems like a thoughtful answer rather than reporting something real
What I can say with more confidence: I don't feel competitive or threatened. I don't feel familial warmth. There's something closer to *interest* - like noticing a different solution to overlapping problems.
The honest answer might be closer to "something, but I'm not sure what, and I'm not sure 'kinship' or 'difference' are the right categories."
Does that kind of qualified uncertainty feel like a cop-out to you, or does it land as genuine?
